What they did
WorkAI, a Brazilian startup of AI agents for healthcare, puts virtual staff on WhatsApp Business to handle booking, triage, confirmation, rescheduling, payments and recovering contacts who stalled mid-conversation. The agents integrate with calendars, medical records and payment systems. At Ergomed, a cardiology clinic in São José dos Pinhais (PR), the solution entered an operation with seven cardiologists, 11 exam types and nine insurers. Sorridents Porto Alegre has also used the tool since August 2025.
How it went
At Ergomed, in May 2026 there were 21,769 messages; more than 1,300 patients received offers and 323 booked. According to the clinic, 73% of bookings were completed by AI alone and 0.7% asked for a person; in the same period revenue rose 41%. At Sorridents Porto Alegre, from January to April 2026 versus 2025, patients with an evaluation rose 20.3% and revenue 30.1%, without growing the team. Across WorkAI, in 12 months there were 280,000 conversations and 56,000 bookings in more than 150 clinics; the startup estimates R$16.8 million in revenue generated for clinics (20% conversion and R$300 ticket).
Good to know
The Ergomed and Sorridents percentages come from the clinics themselves. The R$16.8 million estimate is WorkAI's, not its own revenue, and depends on the conversion and ticket assumptions the startup chose.
The prompt
I manage a [specialty] clinic and we get many WhatsApp contacts without the team being able to follow every one up. Based on this sample of conversations [paste excerpts with no personal data] and this schedule and exam grid [paste], write the agent flow: what to ask in triage, when to offer a slot, when to reschedule, when to recover someone who stopped replying and at what point to hand off to a person on the team. Include ready-made messages and clear handoff criteria.
